The Buzz P7 Supercup Mini TournamentOn Saturday 31st March, a squad from Melrose Mini Hornets P7 group travelled to Watsonians to take part in the Primary 7 Mini Tournament which took place prior to the Supercup final between Watsonians and Boroughmuir. Teams from Melrose, Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow Hawks, Heriots and Watsonians took part. The qualifiers took the form of a round robin tournament, with the two highest scoring teams going forward to the final on the main pitch prior to the Supercup final. Despite some very tough opposition, the Mini Hornets played some superb rugby with their strong defensive teamwork and attacking flair. Apart from one draw, they won all their qualifying matches, going forward to meet Dundee in the final. The final provided the spectators with a thrilling display of end to end rugby, with the Mini Hornets just edging ahead two tries to one at half time. In the second half, however, Melrose proved just too strong for Dundee and ran in worthy winners, with the final score at four tries to one. (Try scorers: Russell MacKay, Connor Spence, Richard Taylor)
